Horn Contact Pin Modification:
DESCRIPTION
An intermittent operation of the horn may be caused by sticking or binding of the horn contact in the combination switch. A modified contact pin has been installed at the assembly line since the production on and after November 1, 1983. In addition, this modified contact pin has been established as a repair part for vehicles produced before this date. There is no change of part number.

*Note: The horn contact cannot be replaced on 626 and RX-7 combination switches for vehicles with cluster switches. If cluster switches are installed, replace the combination switch as a unit.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Check the operation of horn, horn relay and electrical connectors. (Refer to Wiring Diagram)
2. Remove steering wheel. (Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 15)
3. Remove column cover and combination switch.
Caution: Before removing the combination switch, place all the switches in the following position in order to simplify disassembly and assembly.
^ Light Switch - Park lights on
^ Dimmer Switch - Hi beam
^ Turn Signal Switch - off
^ Hazard Switch - off
4. Remove the screws to the light and dimmer switch assembly and remove the assembly. (Refer to applicable Workshop Manual, Section 15)
Caution: After removal, do not change the position of any switch in the assembly.
Horn Contact Location:
5. Remove the horn contact by pushing down the contact and turning 90~ counter-clockwise.
Install the modified horn contact by pushing down and turning 90~ clockwise.
Contact Pin:
6. After installation push the contact pin down and verify that the pin returns smoothly and is secured in the combination switch body.
7. Reinstall in the reverse order of removal.
