DESCRIPTION
The methods of selecting the shim for the primary shaft bearing has been changed since the early 1982 GLC production. The methods of selecting the shim has been changed because the thickness of the diaphragm spring was changed from 1.0 mm to 0.7 mm beginning with the VIN listed below.
In addition, the bearing preload for the primary shaft has been changed as shown below.
Please make the following corrections to your 1982-85 GLC Workshop Manuals. Self-adhesive labels have been provided with this Service Bulletin. These labels are to be placed over the existing Workshop Manual page number so that the technician can refer to this Service Bulletin.
