SUBJECT Attachment for Rear Axle Shaft Bearing Puller

NOTE:
Applied models are all RWD vehicles with the exception of 1986-87 RX-7 and 1979-87 B/2000 &

1983-84 B2200.



DESCRIPTION

The attachment (P/N 49S1 21 523A) is newly established for use with the rear axle shaft bearing puller (P/N 49S1 20 520A). The rear axle shaft bearing puller was previously established for the 1986 B2000.

This attachment must be used together with the rear axle shaft bearing puller for all rear wheel drive vehicles except 1986-87 RX-7 and 1979-87 B2000/1983-84 B2200.



REMOVAL OF BEARING COLLAR

1. Use a grinder to grind off a part of the bearing collar as shown until 0.5 mm (0.02") remains, then break it with a chisel and remove it from the axle shaft.

CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage the shaft when using the grinder and chisel.



REMOVAL OF BEARING

1. Fit the attachment hooks to the bearing, then secure it firmly with the screws.

Secure the rods with the rod stoppers so that the rods do not come off the attachment.



2. Place the plate on the axle shaft, then adjust the adjusting nuts so that the plate and the axle shaft are at 90~ from each other.

3. Secure the axle shaft in a vice using copper plates. Then turn the center bolt to remove the bearing.
