Idle Speed: Adjustments

1. Ensure that all electrical accessories are off.
2. Remove fuel filler cap.
3. Connect suitable tachometer to engine.
4. Start engine and allow to reach normal operating temperature.
5. Adjust throttle sensor as follows:
a. Shut engine off, then connect voltmeters to green throttle sensor check connector as shown, Fig. 1.
b. Turn ignition switch on, then observe voltmeters.

c. If current flows to both voltmeters or does not flow at all, turn adjusting screw, Fig. 2, until current flows to one of the voltmeters.
d. If current flows to both voltmeters, turn adjusting screw counterclockwise.
e. If current does not flow to either voltmeter, turn adjusting screw clockwise.

6. Disconnect vent and vacuum solenoid valve connector, Fig. 3.

7. Observe tachometer. If idle speed is not as specified, remove plug and rotate air adjust screw, Fig. 4, until specified curb idle speed is obtained.
