Variable Resistor Testing
Fig. 7 Variable resistor test connections. Fuel injected models:
1. Disconnect variable resistor connector and measure resistance between resistor terminals A and C and B and C, Fig. 7. Resistance should be 500-4500 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace variable resistor.
2. Adjust curb idle speed to specification.

3. Adjust variable resistor to obtain highest possible idle speed, Fig. 8.

4. Adjust curb idle speed to 800 RPM with air adjust screw, Fig. 4.
5. Turn variable resistor adjusting screw counterclockwise until engine speed is approximately 780 RPM, then turn clockwise until speed approaches 800 RPM.
6. Fill head of resistor adjusting screw with sealant N30423795 or equivalent to hold adjustment.
