Throttle Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Fig. 12 Connect voltmeters to throttle sensor.:
1. Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached, then stop engine.
2. Disconnect green electrical connector from throttle sensor and connect a voltmeter or test lamp to each connector terminal and ground Fig. 12.
3. Turn ignition switch to On position and observe voltmeters or test lamps.
Fig. 14 Preparing test light.:
NOTE: The testing light as shown in Fig. 14 can be used in place of the voltmeter. In this case, the testing light turns on when current flows.
Fig. 13 Adjusting throttle sensor.:
4. If current flows to both terminals, turn adjusting screw counterclockwise until current flows to one side only Fig. 13.
5. If current does not flow to either terminal, turn adjusting screw clockwise until current flows to one side only.
6. Install cap onto adjusting screw when adjustment is completed.
Fig. 15 Checking Throttle sensor.:
TESTING W/OHMMETER
1. Disconnect the connector for the throttle sensor.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to the throttle sensor as shown in Fig. 15.
3. Open the throttle valve and observe the ohmmeter reading. Throttle opening at idle about 1 kohm, fully open about 5 kohm.
