DESCRIPTION

Power window motor repair kits for 1983-1987 626 have been newly established and made available as service parts, as listed in the table below.

Each of the kits consists of a worm gear, a damper, etc. These parts need to be replaced if the power window malfunctions due to a worn worm gear.

If you encounter the customer complaint of the power window malfunction on the 1983-1987 626, check the power window motor and repair it as necessary in accordance with the procedure described in this bulletin.

PARTS INFORMATION

* NOTE:

The thickness of the motor body has been changed to 1.18 in. (30 mm) from 1.38 in. (35 mm) since October 1986 production for the front motor and December 1986 for the rear motor. However, as the part number of the window regulator has not been changed, a correct repair kit has to be selected by measuring the thickness of the motor body.

The repair kit includes the following pans:

1. Gear case cover
2. Worm gear
3. Snap ring
4. O-ring
5. Grease

NOTE: The repair kit type D (G031 72 56X) does not include an O-ring .Instead, the butyl rubber sealant is applied onto the gear case cover.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. REMOVAL OF WORM GEAR

1. Straighten the two (2) catches by using a flat tipped screwdriver. Then remove the gear case cover.

NOTE: The cover for type D kit may be difficult to remove because it is securely sealed with butyl rubber sealant.

2. Remove the snap ring and disassemble the inner parts.

II. REINSTALLATION

1. Apply enough grease to the portion shown.

Install new inner parts and fasten them with a new snap ring.

Fit the snap ring securely.

NOTE: Make sure that there is no foreign substance in the gear case cover.

2. ^ For type A, B and C:

Fit a new O-ring to the gear case and install the new gear case cover to the motor. Then fix it by bending the catches as shown.

NOTE: Pay attention to the following to prevent water leakage.
^ Fit the O-ring to the proper position.
^ Install the gear case cover without any looseness.

^ For type D:

Remove the remaining butyl rubber sealant completely from the gear case and install the new gear case cover to the motor. Then fix it by bending the catches as shown.

NOTE: To prevent water leakage, install the gear case cover without any looseness.
