Engine Replace


1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain engine oil and coolant.
2. Scribe hood hinge locations and remove hood.
3. Remove air cleaner, then disconnect fuel lines and fuel pump, as required.
4. Disconnect accelerator cable, then the speedometer cable from transaxle.
5. On models equipped with manual transaxle, disconnect clutch cable or clutch release cylinder, as required.
6. On models equipped with automatic transaxle, disconnect transaxle control cable.
7. On all models, disconnect engine ground wire.
8. Disconnect power brake unit vacuum hose, then remove 3-way valve vacuum switch and bracket.
9. Disconnect heater hoses from engine, then remove duty solenoid valve and vacuum sensor, as required.
10. Disconnect all electrical connectors from engine and transaxle necessary for engine removal.
11. Disconnect carbon canister air vent hose and vacuum hoses.
12. Remove electric fan and radiator, then the windshield washer fluid tank.
13. On models equipped with air conditioning, remove washer fluid sub-tank, then the alternator. Unfasten air conditioning compressor and position aside.
14. On all models, raise and support front of vehicle.
15. Remove front wheels and splash shields.
16. On models equipped with power steering, unfasten steering pump and position aside.
17. On all models, disconnect driveshafts from transaxle.
18. On models equipped with manual transaxle, disconnect shift rod and extension bar.
19. On all models, disconnect exhaust manifold from head joint.
20. Remove torque stopper rubber cap and attaching bolts from right wheelhouse. Remove remaining attaching bolts from engine compartment and lift torque stoppers out of vehicle.
21. Support engine and transaxle with a suitable jack and remove engine and transaxle mounting nuts.
22. Attach suitable lifting equipment to engine, then carefully lift engine and transaxle assembly from vehicle.
23. Reverse procedure to install.
