Servo Diaphragm - Air Conditioner & Power Steering
Fig. 24 Adjustment Of Servo Diaphragm:
1. Remove air cleaner.
2. Plug vacuum lines of idle compensator, thermosensor and reed valves.
3. Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached and continue to run at idle.
4. Connect tachometer to engine.
5. On models equipped with A/C, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect vacuum line from side of servo diaphragm.
b. Apply intake manifold vacuum directly to servo diaphragm, Fig. 24, and ensure engine speed increases to 1200-1400 RPM.
c. If engine speed does not increase as specified, turn adjusting screw as necessary. When adjusting diaphragm, all accessories must be off and the electric fan motor must not be operating.
6. On models equipped with power steering, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect vacuum line from top of diaphragm.
b. Apply intake manifold vacuum directly to servo diaphragm and ensure engine speed increases to 800-1000 RPM on models with manual transaxle or 1050-1250 RPM on models with automatic transaxle.
c. If engine speed does not increase as specified, disconnect vacuum line and turn adjusting screws on diaphragm head as necessary. When adjustment is complete, reconnect vacuum line and confirm engine speed. When adjusting diaphragm, all accessories must be off and the electric fan motor must not be operating.
