Disassembly and Reassembly


DISASSEMBLY

1. Disconnect vacuum tube, then remove accelerating pump connecting rod and lever from main body.
2. Disconnect choke rod, then the air vent solenoid valve electrical connector.
3. Separate air horn and automatic choke assembly from main body, then remove air vent solenoid and gasket.
4. Remove float, pin, gasket and needle valve assembly.
5. Remove coasting richer valve and idle switch from main body.
6. Remove slow fuel cut solenoid valve and gasket, then the dashpot bracket and dashpot from main body.
7. Remove accelerating pump plunger assembly and spring, then the retaining clip and check valve plug.
8. Invert main body and remove strainer and the pump inlet and outlet check balls and spring.
9. Disconnect throttle linkage and vacuum diaphragm connecting rod.
10. Remove attaching bolts and separate throttle body from main body.
11. Remove diaphragm assembly attaching screws, then the diaphragm and gasket.
12. Remove diaphragm cover attaching screws, then the cover, spring, diaphragm and throttle lever hanger attaching screws.
13. Remove fuel bowl sight glass attaching screws, then the cover, gasket, sight glass and gasket.
14. Remove all air bleeds and jets, noting size of each so they may be installed in their original positions.
15. Drive out spring pin, then remove mixture adjusting screw. Do not remove throttle valve and shaft, the venturi or choke valve and shaft.

REASSEMBLY

To assemble carburetor, reverse disassembly procedure, noting the following:
1. Discard all old gaskets and replace with new ones.
2. Ensure all components are clean and in good condition.
3. Ensure all components are installed in corresponding barrels and are not intermixed.
4. When installing mixture adjusting screw, bottom screw, then back off 3 or 4 turns and install shell, if equipped. Do not install blind cap or spring until carburetor is installed and idle mixture properly adjusted.
