DESCRIPTION

To improve the sealing ability of the head gasket, the material was changed during February production. (Service Bulletin, Cat.1,012/85)



On vehicles produced after the above mentioned modification, a problem of water leakage from the cylinder head gasket may exist due to a cracking of the gasket around the water passage as shown below.
On the production line two types of gaskets were used without distinction (Type A and B). So far, reports indicate that the problem is only with the type A gasket. As a temporary measure, use of this gasket has been discontinued as of January 27, 1986 production.



The two gaskets can be distinguished as shown below.
CAUTION:
The head gaskets supplied as service parts were all type A. To prevent any further problems, the type B gasket will be supplied from now on. When replacing a head gasket, you must use the type B gasket.
