Vacuum Delay Valve: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove vacuum delay valve from air cleaner.
2. Connect a 3 foot piece of vacuum hose onto a suitable hand held vacuum pump.
3. Connect other end of vacuum hose onto inlet port of valve.
4. Place a finger over open portion of valve and apply 19.7 inches Hg vacuum to the valve Fig. 27.
5. Remove finger from valve and note time required for vacuum reading to decrease to 3.9 inches Hg vacuum from approximately 15.7 inches Hg vacuum on GLC models, or 16.7 inches Hg vacuum on 626 models.
6. Time required for vacuum reading to decrease to specified vacuum should be 2.3 seconds. If not, replace vacuum delay valve.
