Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair


1. Disconnect battery ground cable and speedometer cable.
2. Remove clutch cable brackets and disconnect clutch cable from release lever.
3. Remove water pipe bracket and harness clip.
4. Raise and support front of vehicle.
5. Completely drain oil from transaxle.
6. Remove front wheels, undercover and side covers from vehicle.
7. Remove ball joint from lower control arm.
8. Pull driveshafts out from transaxle. The driveshaft can be removed by pulling the brake caliper toward the operator. Pull the shaft straight out of the axle and do not damage oil seal. Ensure the driveshaft ball joint is not bent severely.
9. Using engine support 49E301025 or equivalent, connect onto engine lifting eyes. Using a suitable hoist, raise engine.
10. Disconnect shift control and shift rod from transaxle.
11. Remove extension bar from transaxle.
12. Remove bolts and crossmember.
13. Disconnect four rubber mounts and transaxle case from transaxle.
14. Remove starter motor.
15. Using a suitable jack, support transaxle.
16. Remove transaxle mounting bolts and the transaxle.
17. Reverse procedure to install.
