1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature and run at idle.
2. Connect voltmeter to No. 1 three-way solenoid valve (BY) terminal, and ensure voltage is approximately 12 volts.
3. Disconnect vacuum hose from No. 1 purge control valve and place finger over hose opening.
4. Increase engine speed to approximately 2000 RPM and ensure air is not sucked in.
5. Disconnect electrical connector for neutral switch or inhibitor switch, Fig. 7, and note voltmeter reading. Voltage should be below 1.5 volts.
6. Place finger over hose opening.
7. Increase engine speed to approximately 2000 RPM and ensure air is sucked in.
8. Connect electrical connector at neutral switch or inhibitor switch.
