REPAIR PROCEDURE

On 323 4-door and all 626 except 5-door hatchback models:

1. Slide access cover off (toward front of vehicle) of base and remove two attaching bolts. Lay stop light housing on its side.

2. Remove old gasket and clean housing and lens. Window may be cleaned with glass cleaner, but use extreme caution not to rub too hard. Doing so could cause damage to the defroster grid on the glass.

3. Apply adhesive in drops about 5 mm apart in the channel of the gasket as shown in the illustration. Be sure to use adhesive sparingly.

4. Install the new gasket, attaching the lower edge first, then the sides. The upper edge must be held in place for at least 30 seconds to properly adhere on the housing.

On 626 5-door hatchback models:

1. Remove two Philips screws holding trim cover on light housing and then remove three nuts holding the housing on the rear window.

2. Remove old gasket and clean housing and lens. Window may be cleaned with glass cleaner, but use extreme caution not to rub too hard. Doing so could cause damage to the defroster grid on the glass.

3. Apply a strip of double-sided tape 12 cm long, 3 mm wide along the top edge of the housing, just above the lens.

4. Apply adhesive to the gasket as shown in Step 3 for other models and install beginning with the lower edge. Hold top edge for at least 30 seconds, using double-sided tape to assist.

5. Apply a small amount of adhesive to protector for side mounting hole and install protector.

6. Attach light housing and trim cover in reverse order of removal and be sure not to over-tighten nuts.
