Center Woofer:

DESCRIPTION

A special woofer (speaker with amp used for ultra-low bass sound), has been installed on the 626 GT and LX models since their introduction in 1986. This woofer is located inside the lower part of the front console..

Audio System:

If the audio system makes a very noticeable distorted sound, it may be possible that the woofer has failed.

To check the woofer, use the quick check procedure below.

1. Switch the radio on.

2. Turn the fader control knob fully clockwise and counterclockwise.
If a distorted sound occurs only when the front speakers are operating and continues while turning the balance control knob, the woofer may have failed.

3. Remove the front console.

4. Verify the distorted sound occurrence and source by disconnecting and reconnecting the harness coupler for the woofer.

5. If the woofer makes a distorted sound, replace the woofer with new unit available under Part Number 0000 81 5614.

NOTE:
Since the distortion problem may seldom occur, it may be difficult to catch the problem using the quick check method outlined above. Because of this, make every effort to verify the complaint with the customer.
