Headlamp Motor: Adjustments

Retractable Headlight System:

SEALED BEAM REPLACEMENT

Sealed Beam Replacement:

WARNING: Disconnect negative battery cable to prevent accidental lowering of headlight and possible personal injury while performing work.


1. Raise headlight assembly.
2. Disconnect negative battery cable.
3. Remove upper and lower headlight bezels.
4. Remove screws and remove retaining ring.
5. Unplug sealed beam and lift light from vehicle.
6. Reverse procedures to install new light.

HEADLIGHT AIM ADJUSTMENT

Headlight Aim Adjustment:

1. Raise headlight.
2. With vehicle on a level surface, adjust headlights according to regulations in your area by turning the adjusting screws.
3. The bottom screw makes up/down adjustments. The side screw makes left/right adjustments.

HEADLIGHT HINGE ADJUSTMENT

Headlight Motor Link:

1. Disconnect motor link.

Headlight Retractor Stopper:

2. Lower retractor hinge until it contacts stopper.

Headlight Lid Correct Position:

3. Adjust stopper so that headlight lid is flush with fender and hood.

RETRACTOR MOTOR POSITION ADJUSTMENT

Manual Operation Knob:

1. Remove front soft facia.
2. Lower retractor hinge until it contacts the stopper.
3. Remove motor assembly.
4. Adjust motor arm position by turning manual operation know so that the motor arm is in its lowest position.

CAUTION: Do not remove motor arm from shaft. Doing so may cause incorrect automatic stop operation.

Headlight Motor Installation:

5. Check that retractor hinge is against stopper and headlight lid is flush with fender and hood.
6. Connect motor link to hinge.
7. Mount motor assembly to body and check for proper operation.
8. Install front soft facia.
