Air Injection Control Valve: Testing and Inspection
1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature and connect tachometer.
2. On turbocharged models equipped with anti-lock braking system, disconnect and plug air bypass valve air hose and vacuum hose from turbocharger.
3. On all models, disconnect air hose between air silencer and air control valve at air control valve.
4. Place finger over air control valve outlet.
5. Increase engine speed and ensure air begins to flow out at 1500---2500 RPM on non-turbocharged models, or 3750 RPM on turbocharged models.
6. Run engine at idle speed.
7. On non-turbocharged models, disconnect vacuum hose between relief solenoid valve and air control valve at relief solenoid valve and ensure air flows out.
8. On turbocharged models, disconnect electrical connector from relief solenoid valve and ensure air flows from valve above 1200 RPM.
9. On all models, reconnect vacuum and air hoses or electrical connector.
10. Disconnect split air hose between check valve and intake manifold at intake manifold and place a finger over port opening.
11. Disconnect vacuum hose between switching solenoid valve and air control valve at switching solenoid valve and ensure air flows out.
12. Reconnect vacuum hose and split air hose.
13. If air flow is not as described, replace air control valve.
