DESCRIPTION
There is a possibility that a rattling noise may be heard from the underside of the vehicle when starting the engine or decelerating. This may be due to breakage of the pre-converter bracket welded on the flange of the No. 2 pre-converter.
If you encounter this complaint, please replace the bracket with a new one according to the following instructions. The pre-converter bracket has been newly established as a service part.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the insulator for No. 2 pre-converter.
2. Remove the broken bracket and welding seams from the No. 2 pre-converter by using an air hammer cuffer or a chisel.
NOTE:
^ Wear safety goggles when using air tool or chisel.
^ Be sure to check that the welding seams are removed from the installation surface of bracket. File the surface, if necessary.
3. Install (bolt on) the new bracket to the No. 2 pre-converter.
NOTE:
It is not necessary to weld the new bracket.
