Page 7B-23 THROTTLE CABLE Inspection

1. Check the inner and outer cable for damage.

2. Make sure that accelerator operates smoothly.

Page 7B-31 ATF level

After installation, add ATF, and with the engine idling, check the fluid level and check for leaks. (Refer to page 7B-23.)

Throttle cable

Adjust the throttle cable using the oil pressure gauge set (4903 78 400A). (Refer to page 7B-33.)

Page 7B-33 Adjustment

1. Remove the splash shield next to the left front tire.

2. Remove the square head plug "L" and install the oil pressure gauge set (4903 78 400A).

3. Shift into "P" range and start the engine. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature and adjust the idle speed to 900-950 rpm.

4. Adjust locknuts:
When the locknuts are moved, line pressure is increased or decreased as shown. Adjust the cable locknuts to the correct position using the following procedure.

STEP 1 Initially install the locknuts fully away from the throttle cam. (Loosen the cable all the way.)

STEP 2 Adjust the locknuts in a clockwise direction as viewed from the front of the vehicle until the line pressure begins to increase above the specification shown below.

STEP 3 Adjust the locknuts in a counter-clockwise direction until the line pressure decreases to the specification. Tighten the locknuts.

Specified Pressure:
432-450 kPa (4.4-4.6 kg/sq. cm, 63-66 psi)

NOTE:
Transmission in "P" range.
5. Turn off the engine.

6. Reinstall the square head plug.

Tightening Torque:
5-10 N-m (0.5-1.0 m-kg, 43-87 in.lb.)

If new cable is being installed:

1. Fully open the throttle valve and crimp the pin with the protector installed as shown.

2. Remove the protector.

NOTE:
If it becomes necessary to remove the throttle cable for any service reasons, please remove bracket from valve cover to insure adjustment is not disturbed.

Page 7B-120 2-4 BRAKE BAND ADJUSTMENT

1. Remove the oil pan and gasket located on the underside of the transmission.

2. Loosen the lock nut and tighten the piston stem to the specified torque.

Tightening Torque:
9-10 N-m (0.9-1.1 m-kg, 78-96 in.lb.)

3. Loosen the piston stem 2 turns.

4. Tighten the lock nut to the specified torque.

Tightening Torque:
25-40 N-m (2.5-4.0 m-kg, 18-29 ft.lb.)
