SUBJECT RX-7 Heater Amp Control Box (FB01 61 185)
DESCRIPTION
If you encounter a 1986-87 with a blower speed problem in the heater/air conditioning, it may be due to a failed heater amp control box. This component attaches onto the Logicon heater control unit and may be replaced separately.
Symptoms of failed heater amp box are:
Blower works only on high speed. Blower works only on very low and high speed with no intermediate speed range. Blower works only on high setting, but at slow speed.
NOTE: 1. Logicon will usually test "GOOD" even if the heater control amp box has failed.
2. Erratic or intermittent blower speed is a symptom of loose connection(s) rather than a failed heater amp box.
3. If symptoms indicate loose connections, check all connectors including location at blower motor first.
If the above symptoms occur, replace the heater amp control box. Do not replace the Logicon heater control (FB03 61 190B) UNLESS this unit tests faulty, using the Logicon checker.
To further improve the durability, a modified heater amp control box has been installed since the production date of October, 1986.
