SUBJECT High Mount Stop Lamp
DESCRIPTION
If the customer complains that the high mount stop lamp on 1986 or 1987 RX-7 vehicles does not illuminate evenly, (dark spot in lens when brakes are applied), follow the repair procedures below and replace the lens and socket with the modified ones listed below.

PARTS INFORMATION
NOTE:
The rubber protectors will be damaged when replacing the lens. Be sure to install new rubber protectors on lens (P/N FB01 51 586 and FB01 51 582A).
REPAIR PROCEDURES
1. Remove spare tire.
2. Remove two (2) 10 mm flange nuts securing the high mount stop lamp assembly and carefully remove the lamp assembly.
3. Remove the socket from lens housing and remove bulb. Disconnect connector from socket and discard socket.
4. Using a small screwdriver, carefully pry lens tabs outward and remove lens from the lens housing. Discard lens.
5. Reinstall modified lens and socket in reverse order.
