DESCRIPTION

We have received a customer complaint that the engine speed increases excessively (to 2,500 - 3,000 rpm) at cold starting. Upon checking, we find this condition is due to the Accelerated Warming-Up System (AWS), and is not a failure.

If you receive such a user complaint, you are requested to explain the AWS to the customer in order not to cause him to misunderstand the situation.






Purpose of the AWS:

To increase the engine speed to about 3,000 rpm so as to raise the catalyst temperature rapidly at the cold starting and improve the cold startability. (Please refer to 4-32 or the 1986 RX-7 Training Manual.)
