15 (See Below) AUTO CRUISE CONTROL Issued 2/2/88
O/D CANCEL SYSTEM Revised
DESCRIPTION
The auto cruise control system of the 1988 323, 1987 626, 1987-1988 B2200, and 1987-1988 B2600 with 4-speed automatic transmissions, has a function which automatically cancels the overdrive and downshifts into D3. Owing to this system, the vehicle will continue running in D3 for a specified period and then will upshift to O/D. (Refer to Service Bulletin, Category 15 No. 048/87.)
This delay time was specified to be 100 sec. in some models. However, we have sometimes been advised that the delay was too long. Therefore, we have changed the auto cruise control system as follows..
^ Condition to downshift to D3 from O/D:
(Old) Vehicle speed continues for 3 sec. at 1.3 mph (2 km/h) slower than the set cruise speed (New) Vehicle speed slows down by 5 mph (8 km/h)
^ Upshift delay time to O/D from D3:
(Old) 100 sec. (New) 20 sec.
