Fuel Pump Control Unit

1. Remove control unit from under driver's seat.
2. Remove rear seat cushion and disconnect fuel tank gage unit connector.
3. Remove attaching screws and cover, then turn ignition switch to On position.
4. Short or open BG and B terminals, Fig. 45, of fuel tank gage unit connector and check voltage at B and BY terminals, Fig. 46, of fuel pump control unit. With gage unit connector terminals shorted there should be zero volts at both control unit terminals and with terminal open there should be zero volts at B terminal and 12 volts at BY terminal.
5. If voltage is not as described, replace fuel pump control unit. 12 volts will not be indicated at BY terminal until 10 seconds after opening terminals of fuel tank gage unit connector.
