Transfer Pump

Fig. 45 Fuel tank gage unit connector. Turbo w/all wheel drive:

1. Remove rear seat cushion, then the transfer pump switch cover attaching screws and the cover.
2. Turn ignition switch to On position.
3. Disconnect fuel tank gage unit connector, then short or open the BG and B terminals, Fig. 45, of fuel tank gage unit connector using jumper wire and check transfer pump operation.
4. Transfer pump should not run with terminals shorted and should run with terminals open. Transfer pump will not operate until 10 seconds after opening BG and B terminals.
5. If operation is not satisfactory, check transfer pump, fuel pump control unit and the transfer pump switch.

Measure resistance with transfer pump connector disconnected Fig. 11. Resistance should be 8 ohms.
