MAZDA G4A-HL Valve Body Orifice Locations

The G4A-HL is a 4 speed front wheel drive transaxle used in Mazda vehicles. This transaxle has a governor and only ONE solenoid on the valve body.
The following figures show the valve body orifice locations for the G4A-HL.

This information does not apply to the G4A-EL, which has 4 solenoids mounted on the valve body For valve body orifice locations for the G4A-EL see ATRA Bulletin # 021.

The orifice sizes contribute to calibration and may vary from model to model. Use the additional columns to record the orifice sizes in your valve bodies, and the year of the vehicle if you like. If you get one scrambled later, this will help you sort it out.

When the overdrive solenoid is energized, no lock-up or overdrive will occur.

When the overdrive solenoid is not energized, lockup apply and the overdrive shift will be scheduled by governor pressure.
