Engine Replace


1. Disconnect battery cable.
2. Drain engine oil, transaxle oil and coolant into suitable containers.
3. Remove battery and battery carrier.
4. Remove air cleaner assembly.
5. Mark, then disconnect all electrical connectors from the engine.
6. Remove cooling fan and radiator assembly.
7. Disconnect accelerator cable and cruise control cable, if equipped.
8. Disconnect speedometer cable.
9. On fuel injected models, slowly and carefully discharge pressure from fuel system.
10. On all models, disconnect and cap fuel lines and hoses.
11. Disconnect heater hoses from engine.
12. Disconnect brake vacuum hose and three-way solenoid valve hose.
13. Disconnect canister purge hose.
14. Disconnect engine ground strap.
15. Disconnect upper and lower radiator hoses.
16. Disconnect exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.
17. Remove secondary air pipe, if equipped.
18. Remove A/C compressor, if equipped.
19. Remove power steering pump, if equipped.
20. Mark driveshaft alignment, then disconnect driveshafts. Do not use a lead pencil or a sharp tool to place alignment marks on driveshaft assemblies.
21. Disconnect clutch control cable, if equipped.
22. Disconnect shift control rod.
23. Remove engine under cover and side cover.
24. Remove engine mount bolts.
25. Remove engine from vehicle.
26. Reverse procedure to install.
