DESCRIPTION
Service parts for the outside rearview mirror (manual type) have been newly established to minimize the repair cost. Should the outside mirror glass be damaged, repair it by replacing the mirror holder and the mirror glass as listed in this Service Bulletin.
NOTE:
The mirror glasses have to be replaced with the new holders.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
NOTE:
Wear protective gloves and glasses before starting this repair.
1. Remove the outside rearview mirror from the vehicle.
2. Remove the pivot holding screw.
3. Break the mirror glass by hitting it at the center with a hammer.
NOTE:
Cover the mirror glass with plastic sheet for safety.
4. Heat the center of the mirror holder with a heat gun.
5. Remove the mirror holder.
6. Install a nut and a pivot holding screw on a new mirror holder and tighten them temporarily until two - three threads are engaged.
7. Install the new mirror holder on the slider and heat the center of the mirror holder with a heat gun. Then, push the mirror holder until it is properly engaged with the pivot.
8. Tighten the pivot holding screw at a torque of 9.5 - 9.9 in-lb (11 - 16 cm-kg).
9. Attach butyl rubber to the backside of the mirror glass as shown in the illustration.
NOTE: Pay close attention to the alignment of the butyl on the mirror glass and the raised portion of the mirror holder.
10. Heat the whole mirror holder fully with a heat gun.
11. Install the mirror glass in the sequence shown in the illustration.
12. Install the outside mirror at a torque of 22-30 in-lb (25-35 cm-kg).
