Front
Brake Pads, Replace
1. Loosen front lug nuts, then raise and support vehicle and remove front wheel assemblies.
2. Remove lower caliper mounting bolt, then pivot caliper on top bolt and support it.
3. Remove pads and shims.
4. Reverse procedure to install, using tool 490221600C or equivalent to press in piston.
Caliper, Replace
1. Loosen front lug nuts, then raise and support vehicle and remove front wheel assemblies.
2. Remove brake hose to caliper attaching bolt, then disconnect and plug brake hose.
3. Remove caliper attaching bolts and the caliper.
4. Reverse procedure to install.
Caliper Overhaul
1. With caliper removed from vehicle, remove snap ring and dust seal.
2. Place a piece of wood in caliper and blow compressed air, a little at a time, through flexible hose connection hole to force piston out of caliper.
3. Using tool 490208701A or equivalent, remove piston seal from caliper.
4. Remove guide pin, pin boot, bushing, cap and the bleeder screw.
5. Check cylinder and piston for wear or rust, caliper body for damage or cracks and the boot for damage or poor sealing.
6. Reverse order of disassembly to assemble, noting the following:
a. Coat guide pin, guide pin boot and bushing with grease supplied in seal kit.
b. Coat piston and cylinder with brake fluid and insert piston straight into cylinder.
