Back Window Side Molding Installation




1. Install the back window side molding.

1) Use a razor knife to remove any remaining sealant from the area of the back window side molding mounting.

NOTE:
Do not damage the ceramic paint on the glass.






2) Apply primer with a brush to the bonding area of the glass and the new back window side molding, and allow it to air-dry for approximately 30 minutes.

CAUTION:
Be sure not to allow dirt, water, oil, or similar material to come into contact with the primered surfaces, and do not touch them by hand.



3) After the primer has dried, lay a continuous 3 mm (0.12 in.) high bead of repair seal (B001 77 739) in the molding.

CAUTION:
a. Cut the nozzle of the repair seal cartridge as illustrated in the figure.
b. If necessary, smooth the repair seal to correct any irregularities.



4) Engage the back window side molding end with the lower molding, and push the side molding into place on the glass.

CAUTION:
a. Do not bend the molding while installing it.
b. Do not apply excessive pressure to the side of the glass.



5) Install the window clips on the back window side molding.
CAUTION:
a. Leave the door class open until the repair seal hardens.

2. Install the back window upper molding and upper molding joints.

1) Install the upper molding joints.
2) Install the molding clips to the rear hatch body, and then install the upper molding.
