REPLACEMENT OF THERMOSTAT SET
DESCRIPTION

The only thermostat available as a service part for the 1988 626/MX-6 is 8AK1 15 171. Thermostat set 8173 99 152A should NOT be used on a 1988 626/MX-6.

The appropriate correction has been made in the Parts Bulletin (West no.C-1-F1, East no. II A/26) for the thermostat set mentioned in the Parts Catalog and Parts Microfiche.

This part is related to Recall Campaign no. 30803, "Throttle Valve Frosting." For correct replacement and repair of this part, the following items must be strictly observed.
REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

1. Check to see if the vehicle has been serviced according to the Recall Campaign. The VIN range of the subject vehicles is JM1GD****J1500014 - 573252.

On vehicles that have been serviced according to the campaign, there will be a sticker on the rear-inside panel of the passenger door. The sticker will have the campaign number (no. 30803), dealer code and date.

2. If the vehicle has a campaign sticker, install thermostat set 8AK1 15 171.

If the vehicle does not have a sticker, the campaign countermeasure kit (including thermostat set 8AK1 15 171) should be installed.

NOTE:

If the new thermostat set 8AK1 15 171 is installed on a vehicle without the campaign countermeasure kit, the thermostat may leak or malfunction.
