DESCRIPTION
Headlight flicker at idle or traveling on unpaved road may be experienced on early produced 1988 626/MX-6 vehicles.
To eliminate this condition, two additional springs and modified headlight housing with higher rigidity have been installed since August 1987 production.
If you encounter this complaint, please carry out the repair procedure listed in this bulletin.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the headlight unit as per 1988 626/MX-6 Workshop Manual page 14-28 and 14-29.
3. Loosen the four screws and remove the housing from headlight unit.
Remove the mounting ring, adjusting screws and coil spring from housing.
4. Install the new plate spring (P/N GJ37 51 036) between headlight unit and garnish as per the illustration.
Assemble the headlight unit-using modified housing (see Parts Information section in this bulletin), mounting ring, coil spring and adjusting screws.
Install newly added coil spring (P/N GJ22 51 036) between mounting ring and housing as per the illustration.
5. Install the assembled headlight unit on the vehicle.
6. Repair the other side, if necessary.
7. Adjust the headlight aiming to meet local regulation as per 1988 626/MX-6 Workshop Manual page 14-31.
VIN OF PRODUCTION CHANGE
NOTE:
The modified parts have been installed on MX-6 vehicles produced in the U.S.A. since the beginning of its production.
