Mode Switch
Checking Operation
1. Turn ignition switch to On position.
2. Check that mode indicator illuminates at each mode.
3. If not working properly, check terminal voltage.
Checking Terminal Voltage
1. Disconnect mode switch.
2. Turn ignition switch to On position and turn light switch off.

3. Check voltage between each connector terminal and ground, Fig. 1. In power mode there should be less then 1.5 volts at terminals b, d, e and f and approximately 12 volts at terminal a. In economy mode, there should be less then 1.5 volts at terminals a, b, d and f and approximately 12 volts at terminal f.
4. If voltages are as described, check continuity of terminals.
Checking Continuity
1. Disconnect mode switch connector.

2. Check continuity between connector terminals, Fig. 2. In economy mode, there should be continuity between terminals a and f and between terminals d and e. In power mode, there should be continuity between terminals a and f and between terminals d and b.
3. If continuity is not as described, replace mode switch.
