SELECTOR LEVER ADJUSTMENT

1. Move gearshift lever to ``P'' position.

Fig. 11 Selector lever adjustment. 1987-88 B2200 & B2600 w/3 speed auto. trans.:

2. On models with 3 speed auto. trans., loosen locknuts ``A,'' ``B'' and ``C,'' Fig. 11.

Fig. 12 Selector lever adjustment. 1987-88 B2200 & B2600 w/4 speed auto. trans.:

3. On models with 4 speed auto. trans., loosen locknuts ``A'' and ``B,'' Fig. 12.
4. On all models, shift transmission to ``P'' position by moving selector lever on transmission.
5. On models with 3 speed auto. trans., push and hold gearshift lever forward using a force of 9-22 lbs., then torque locknuts to 69-95 inch lbs.
6. On models with 4 speed auto. trans., using a feeler gauge, adjust gap between adjust lever and locknut ``A'' to .039 inch (1 mm), then remove gauge and torque locknuts to 9-22 inch lbs. on B2200 and B2600, or 69-95 inch lbs. on 929.
7. On all models, move selector lever to ``N,'' ``D'' and ``P'' ranges and ensure there is clearance between select lever bracket and guide pin.
8. If clearance is not satisfactory, readjust locknuts.

KICKDOWN SWITCH ADJUSTMENT

1. Loosen kickdown switch locknuts.
2. Depress accelerator pedal fully.
3. Turn switch until threaded case touches stopper, then turn switch counterclockwise 180°.

NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH ADJUSTMENT

1. Shift selector lever to N range.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove transmission manual lever retaining nut and lever.
4. Loosen three neutral switch attaching bolts and remove screw from alignment pin hole at the bottom of the switch.
5. Rotate switch and insert an alignment pin through alignment pin hole and into hole in internal rotor. The alignment pin should be 0.059 inch (1.5 mm) diameter for 1984 B2000 and B2200 models, or 0.078 inch (2.0 mm) for all other models.
6. Tighten two switch attaching bolts and remove alignment pin.
7. Reinstall alignment pin hole screw in switch body.
8. Position transmission manual lever on manual lever shaft and secure with flat washer and nut.
9. Check switch for proper operation. The engine should start only with transmission selector lever in N or P.

VACUUM DIAPHRAGM ROD

1. Remove vacuum diaphragm rod and O-ring from transmission body.

Fig. 13 Measuring vacuum diaphragm rod:

2. Measure N dimension, Fig. 13, using tool 49G032355 or equivalent and a scale.

Fig. 14 Vacuum diaphragm rod replacement chart:

3. Select proper diaphragm rod, Fig. 14. Excessive shift shock and improper shifting often indicate a vacuum diaphragm malfunction. Remove approximately 1 quart of transmission fluid before removing vacuum diaphragm.

2ND BAND SERVO

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove valve body as follows:
a. loosen oil pan attaching bolts to drain transmission fluid.
b. remove bracket, oil pan and gasket.
c. Disconnect vacuum hose and remove vacuum diaphragm. be careful not to leave vacuum rod in tip of vacuum diaphragm after removal.
d. Disconnect vacuum solenoid connector, then remove harness from bracket.
e. Remove valve body assembly.
3. loosen locknut and torque piston stem to 109-126 inch lbs.
4. Loosen stem 2-1/2 turns, then torque locknut to 11-29 ft.lbs.
5. Install valve body as follows:
a. Install valve body assembly, torquing attaching bolts to 95-130 inch lbs. Be careful to place the manual plate in correct position on manual valve.
b. Connect solenoid valve connector and install harness.
c. Install vacuum diaphragm after adjusting as previously described.
d. Install oil pan with new gasket, then install bracket and bolts, torquing to 52-69 inch lbs.
e. Connect vacuum diaphragm hose to vacuum diaphragm.

OD BAND SERVO

1. Remove OD band servo cover and gasket.
2. Loosen locknut and torque piston stem to 104-130 inch lbs.
3. Loosen stem to full turns.
4. Torque locknut to 11-29 ft.lbs.
5. Install OD band servo cover with new gasket, torquing to 43-61 inch lbs.
