(MMUC built only) PAINT ABRASION ON THE SIDE FRAME Revised 2/15/88

DESCRIPTION

Some of the 1988 MX-6's produced in the U.S.A. within the following VIN range (below) may have abrasion on the PVC coating and paint under it on the side frame.

These vehicles should be inspected and, if necessary, the area should be repaired according to this Service Bulletin. If the subject vehicle is in the dealers inventory, the vehicle should be inspected and repaired during PDI.

1988 MX-6's produced in the U.S.A.

VIN Range: 1YVGD31A} J5100571- J5101770 * 31C}

(Vehicles produced prior to October 27, 1987)


REPAIR PROCEDURE

1) Necessary Materials

^ Primer --- PPG DP-40 and DP-401
^ Undercoating --- Valvoline TECTYL 121B or equivalent
^ Small Paint Brush

2) Repair Procedure

^ Inspect the right hand side of the side frame, as shown in the figure, to see if there is any abrasion on the undercoating and/or paint.

^ If there is an abrasion, clean the area. If necessary, sand the area and then clean with a rag using PREP-SOL or equivalent cleaner.

^ Apply two coats of a mixture of DP-40 and DP-401 (50:50 mixture) with the paintbrush. Apply the first coat, let dry for five (5) minutes and then apply the second coat and let dry for about one hour.

^ Apply the undercoating using the paint brush.
