Throttle Sensor

Use a precision voltmeter with a scale of .01 volts to check throttle sensor.
1. Remove air hose from throttle body.
2. Disconnect throttle sensor 3 pin connector.
3. Connect tool 49G018901 or equivalent between throttle sensor and wiring harness.
4. Turn ignition switch to On position and ensure throttle valve is fully closed.
5. Measure voltages of black and red wires. Voltage of black wire should be approximately zero volts and voltage of red wire should be 4.5-5.5 volts.
6. If voltages are not as described, check battery voltage and wiring harness and, if satisfactory, replace engine control unit.
7. Record voltage of red wire.
8. Check that voltage at blue wire is between red wire voltage times .08 and red wire voltage times .12. If not, adjust throttle sensor.
9. Hold throttle valve fully open.
10. Check that voltage at blue wire is between red wire voltage times .78 and red wire voltage times .94. Replace throttle sensor as necessary.
11. Turn ignition switch to Off position.
12. Disconnect tool and reconnect throttle sensor connector.
13. Disconnect battery ground cable and depress brake pedal at least 5 seconds.
