Idle Speed
Tachometer Connection:
NOTE: Because the idle speed is controlled automatically by the engine control unit through the idle speed control (ISC) solenoid valve, usually it is not necessary to check and adjust the idle speed. However, the idle speed should be adjusted when rough idling occurs when the test connector (Green 1-pin) is grounded.
1. Check the condition of the engine, (plugs, leaks in hoses, etc.).
2. Switch off all accessories.
3. Connect a tachometer to the check connector (White 1-pin).
4. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
5. Check the ignition timing and adjust if necessary.
Test Connector:
6. Connect a jumper wire between the test connector (Green 1-pin) and ground.
7. Ensure that the transmission is in neutral, then check the idle speed. The idle speed should be 850±50 rpm.
Adjusting Idle Screw:
8. If the idle speed is not within specification, remove the blind cap from the air adjusting screw and adjust it.
9. After adjusting the idle speed, install the blind cap and disconnect the jumper wire from the test connector.
