Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

1. Disconnect the connector from the throttle sensor.

2. Connect the throttle sensor adjustment tool (Mazda Part# 49 9200 165) to the throttle sensor using the adapter (Mazda Part# 49 9200 166). If the special tool or adapter are not available, use an ohmmeter.

Thickness Gauge Inserted Behind Stop Screw:





3. Insert a 0.5 mm (0.020 in) thickness gauge between the throttle stop screw and the stop lever.
4. Loosen the screws and rotate the sensor about 30°, then rotate the sensor back until the tool indicates continuity. Tighten the mounting screws.
5. Insert a 0.7 mm (0.027 in) thickness gauge between the throttle stop screw and stop lever and check that the tool does not indicate continuity. If it does, repeat steps 3 through 5.
6. Open the throttle plates a few times and recheck the adjustment of the throttle sensor.
