Safety Guidelines (With SRS)
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS)
Certain vehicles use a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) with driver's side airbag located in steering wheel hub. Servicing, disassembling or replacing these items requires special caution and tools. Work should only be done by a properly trained technician.
SRS WARNINGS
- To avoid rendering SRS inoperative, all maintenance must be performed by a properly trained technician.
- Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of SRS components, can lead to personal injury caused by unintentional airbag deployment.
- All SRS electrical wiring harnesses are covered with yellow outer insulation. Related components are located in the steering column, center console, dash, and front fenders. Do not use electrical test equipment on these circuits.
GENERAL PRECAUTIONS
- Block drive wheels.
- Never work under vehicle supported only by a jack.
- Always wear appropriate eye protection.
- To prevent burns, use caution near catalytic converters.
