Ignition Timing: Adjustments
1. Check engine condition (spark plugs, leaks in hoses, etc.).
2. Turn all electrical loads "OFF."
3. Warm engine to operating temperature.
4. Connect a tachometer and timing light.

5. Ground test connector (Green: 1-pin) with a jumper wire.
6. Check that idle speed is within specification. Adjust as needed.
650 ± 20 rpm

7. Check that timing mark on crankshaft pulley and mark on timing belt cover are aligned.
15° ± 1° BTDC

8. If not within specification, loosen the distributor lock bolt and rotate distributor housing to adjust.
9. Tighten distributor lock bolt to 14 - 19 ft lb (19 - 25 Nm).
10. After adjustment, disconnect jumper wire from test connector.
11. While observing timing marks with timing light, increase engine speed and check that timing advances.
