Fig. 36 Installing Oil Pan:

1. Apply engine oil to new O-ring and install oil strainer on oil pump body, torquing to specification.
2. Apply engine oil to new O-ring and install oil pump, torquing to specification.
3. Apply engine oil to oil pump driveshaft and install oil pump drive shaft in cylinder block.
4. Remove any dirt or oil from oil pan contact surface.
5. If no oil pan gasket is used, apply a continuous bead of suitable sealant to oil pan along the inside of the bolt holes with the ends overlapping.
6. If an oil pan gasket is used, apply suitable sealant to shaded areas, Fig. 36.
7. Install oil pan, torquing to specification.
8. Install end plate, torquing to specification.
