1. Install tensioner pulley and No. 1 idler pulley to cylinder block.
2. Install key and timing belt pulley on crankshaft with timing mark facing front side of engine.
3. Align timing marks ``A'' for exhaust side and marks ``B'' for intake side as shown in Fig. 47.
4. Install timing belt in numerical sequence shown in Fig. 48.
5. Push timing belt down and install No. 2 idler pulley, then verify that timing marks of each pulley are aligned.
6. Turn crankshaft twice in direction of rotation and realign timing marks.
7. Remove pin from auto tensioner, then turn crankshaft twice in direction of rotation and realign timing marks.
8. Check timing belt deflection by applying 22 lbs. of force to timing belt between auto tensioner and cam pulley. Deflection should measure between .24-.31 inch, if deflection is not satisfactory, check auto tensioner, replace as necessary.
9. Install timing belt cover, torque bolts to specifications.
