Timing Belt Removal

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant.






3. Remove in the sequence shown in the image, referring to the Removal Notes below for specially marked parts.

Removal Notes:

Crankshaft pulley lock bolt:






Hold the crankshaft pulley with the SST and remove the lock bolt.

Timing belt:
Before removing the timing belt, perform the following operation:






1. Turn the crankshaft to align the matching marks of the pulleys.

Note: Install the crankshaft pulley lock bolt, before timing belt removal.






2. Make an arrow on the timing belt to indicate direction of travel if the belt is to be reused.

Caution: Be careful not to allow oil, grease, or water on the belt.
