Oxygen Sensor Relay: Description and Operation

The oxygen sensor is equipped with a heating element that is ECU controlled through a relay. The heating element quickly warms the sensor to operating temperature. With this system, sensor operating temperature is maintained when it would otherwise tend to cool down, such as during extended curb idle.
