Fig. 2 Steering Wheel Replacement:
1. Prior to disconnecting battery ground cable, deactivate audio system anti-theft, if equipped, refer to Accessories and Optional Equipment/Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc/Service and Repair.
2. Disarm airbag, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
3. On models less air bag, remove horn pad.
4. On models with air bag, remove attaching nuts, then disconnect air bag module, Fig. 2. When placing a live airbag module on any surface, ensure trim side of module is pointing upward.
5. On all models, remove steering wheel, refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair.
6. Remove steering column covers.
7. Remove attaching screw and ignition switch.
8. Using a hammer and chisel, gently tap a groove into the steering lock heads of steering lock mounting bolts.
9. Using a screwdriver, remove bolts and steering lock assembly.
