DESCRIPTION

The 1990 MX-5 Miata comes equipped from the factory with an anti-theft radio. To arm the anti-theft portion of the radio, a 4-digit code must be inserted. Prior to delivery to the customer, NO CODE should be entered.

Please be aware that the function of this radio is for the customer to protect the unit after the purchase of the vehicle.

If battery power is disconnected while servicing and the radio has NO CODE entered, upon restoring power the radio will work normally.

If battery power is disconnected from a radio which HAS A CODE, the anti-theft function is activated and the code must be entered before the radio will operate again. At this point, the "CODE" will be displayed. If for any reason, 3 unsuccessful attempts are made at entering the code ("ERR" will be displayed), the system will go into a total lock-out phase ("ERR" will remain on the display). If this stage (Total Lock-Out) is achieved, contact your Regional QA Manager for reset instructions.

NOTE:
1) Refer to your Workshop Manual or the vehicle's Owner's Manual for instructions regarding "Arming" the system.
2) If the vehicle is brought in for service and a code has been entered, please advise the customer that if battery power is disconnected, his or her code must be entered to render the radio operable. ENSURE THAT CUSTOMERS KNOW THEIR CODE AND THE PROCEDURES FOR ENTERING IT.
