Refer to Fig. 15, during valve body disassembly and assembly procedures.

DISASSEMBLY

1. Remove oil strainer attaching bolts and nuts, then the oil strainer.
2. Remove lower valve body attaching bolts and nuts, then the lower valve body.
3. Turn over valve body assembly, then remove upper body with separation plate from lower body.
4. Remove separation plate, orifice check valves, throttle relief ball and springs. When removing separation plate, use caution not to lose orifice check valve and spring and throttle relief ball and spring from valve body.
5. Remove manual valve.
6. Remove side plate, then the pressure modifier valve, 1-2 shift valve and spring and 2-3 shift valve and spring. Remove slide plate slowly because valves may pop out.
7. Remove side plate, then the pressure regulator plug, spring and valve and 2nd lock spring and valve.
8. Remove side plate, then the 3-4 shift valve, spring and plug, vacuum throttle valve, throttle back-up spring and valve and solenoid downshift valve and spring.

ASSEMBLY

1. Install 3-4 shift plug, spring, valve and sleeve.
2. Install vacuum throttle valve, then the throttle back-up valve and spring.
3. Install solenoid downshift spring and valve, then the side plate. Torque side plate attaching bolts to 22-30 inch lbs.
4. Install pressure regulator valve, spring, plug and sleeve.
5. Install 2nd lock valve and spring.
6. Install side plate in a position where it does not interfere with set plate.
7. Install 2-3 shift plug, spring and valve.
8. Install 1-2 shift spring and valve.
9. Install pressure modifier valve, then torque side plate attaching bolts to 22-30 inch lbs.
10. Install manual valve.
11. Install orifice check valve and spring and throttle relief ball and spring in lower valve body.
12. Position and align separation plate and lower valve body, then hold them together with large clips.
13. Install orifice check valve and spring in upper valve body. Ensure orifice check valve and throttle relief ball are properly installed.
14. Install upper valve body and oil strainer. Torque bolts 1 through 7 to 22-30 inch lbs., 8 through 17 to 26-35 inch lbs., 18 and 19 to 43-61 inch lbs.
