Variable Induction Control Actuator: Testing and Inspection
AT IDLEShutter Valve Actuator:
1. Remove vacuum hose from actuator.
2. Verify that rod can move in and out freely.
3. Start engine and run at idle. Verify that vacuum is present at hose actuator end.
4. Install hose and verify that actuator rod is pulled inward.
5. Replace actuator if it does not hold vacuum.
6. If vacuum is not present at hose to actuator, correct cause of the problem.
AT HIGH RPM
VICS System Operation Check:
1. Connect tachometer to "IG-" terminal of diagnosis connector.
2. Start engine and run at idle.
3. Verify that shutter valve actuator rod is pulled inward.
4. Gradually increase engine speed and verify that rod is extended when speed reaches 5000 rpm.
