Fuel Pump Relay: Description and Operation
The Circuit Opening Relay, located under the right kick panel adjacent to the ECU, is an ECU controlled component of the fuel system. When the airflow meter flap moves in response to incoming air induced by engine cranking, it closes a switch which energizes the
relay. The relay in turn supplies operating voltage to the electric fuel pump. As a safety feature, the relay is only energized when the engine is running or being cranked by the starter motor.
